The Fear Of The Unknown
It’s so easy to stay in our comfort zone — that small area of protection from vulnerability, shame, or I’m just not good enough.
Putting yourself out there is scary! As a matter of fact, some people would prefer a stick in the eye versus trying something new.
I get it…new is uncomfortable, it requires thought, it requires change, it’s risky.
Uncomfortable is unknown. It’s not warm and fuzzy. There’s no guarantee.
But it is powerful…here’s why.
It Takes Practice To Achieve Mastery
In order to grow your business, you must be willing to expand your capacity to be uncomfortable. You must be willing to practice.
Here’s what I mean by this….
- If your business requires sales calls, you need to practice picking up the phone or walking through the door
- If you want to be a public speaker, you have to practice getting on the stage
- If you want to write better content, you have to push the publish button
Stop waiting for ready and get into action. You’re never truly ready until you’ve done that “thing”.
In doing that “thing”, you build the skills to help you be more prepared the next time.
Being in preparation mode too long pushes out your revenues and it’s important to remember that one of the benefits of having a business…is making money.
Done is better than perfect, so get uncomfortable.
